My Opinion:
I literally just finished this book, post Civil War, we enter the life of Carrie Daly as the wedding day approaches for her bachelor brother and widowed intended. Carrie realizes that a house cannot have two mistresses and after butting heads with her sister in law and step nephews, she leaves for town, where she loves and loses and loves again. As she struggles to let God control her life, instead of her trying to maintain control, she learns that things and people aren’t always what they may seem and when God is in control love can enter in even for those we feel are unlovable by our standards.
I’m so looking forward to the next book, as I can’t wait to learn what happens in the town of Hickory Ridge, and the life of Carrie, Griff and Mary. As always I tend to get caught up in the characters because they just come to life for me – while it did take me awhile to get into the book (the first couple chapters I found to be slow moving) but as I kept going the book had me in it’s grasp and I was hooked. I thoroughly enjoy my brief visit to Tennessee in this book and can’t wait to visit again!
**I was provided a copy of this book through Litfuse Publicity in exchange for my honest review, no other compensation was given.
