Faith, Family, Love and Reviews

Ruby Rebel

I have added a new button under my avatar.  I found out about it when visiting Families Against Feminism  I will post more later on why I have added this to my blog.  For now though I will tell you I think it is truly the Lord speaking to me.  I have for the past several days had a yearning, a longing, to strive to be the Proverbs 31 woman and make God, my husband and my children happy.  So for now, as it’s almost 10:30pm, I will leave it at that and try to make a more in depth post in the next couple of days.

I have been busy with a sick cat, freezing food, soccer sign ups, as well as comtemplating setting up a booth at the farmer’s market.  More later on being the Proverbs 31 woman that the Lord wants me, and all Christian women, strive to be.

God bless.

Friday Feast 195

Well I am late in posting my Friday Feast but better late than never 🙂  Come on over and join in the fun:  Friday Feast

Appetizer

What is the weather like today where you live?  It has been hot and humid.  In the van yesterday it registered at 91 degrees, thankfully we have full air in the van so even though it was 91 outside it was cool in the van.  Storms galore, I love storms!!!  The more lighening and thunder the better.

Soup

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how career-minded are you?  Can I say -0?  I am not career minded at all I love being a homemaker, wife and mom.  If you had asked me only 7 years ago I would have said 10, I wanted nothing but a college education (I do have an associates but not using it in a paid, professional manner LOL), a great career (social work then move on to be an attorney).  Now the only career I look forward to is one day being a Grandma and Great Grandma.  I pray the Lord will bless us with more little ones.

Salad

What type of window coverings do you have in your home? Blinds, curtains, shutters, etc.?  Curtains, I need to hem the ones in the living room as they are too long and pulling down the curtain rod.  We used to have blinds but got rid of them because it creates to many places for dust to hide.

Main Course

Name something that instantly cheers you up.  My children, Christian loves to give hugs and kisses now.  They all love to cuddle.

Dessert

How many times do you hit the snooze button on a typical morning?  Well we don’t have an alarm clock, but even if we did we couldn’t push snooze because it consists of "MmmmOOOOMMMMMM"

Craft Camp

I will update each day with her new crafts as she completes them 🙂

Our local craft store, Crafts 2000, has a week long craft camp every summer.  This year’s theme is under the sea.  For $2.00 per day each child gets to make two to three crafts per day plus a snack.  Parents can stay, a definite plus.  In our case my MIL takes Hannah since Christian and Bethanne won’t sit in a store for 2 hours.  Bethanne could have participated but we felt she needed to mature a little bit, so maybe next year.  So far here is what Hannah has made, minus the t-shirt (it’s in the hamper) and her sea horse riding stick (I will try to post that tomorrow).

Day 1:  This is a  plastic bucket and inside is mixed sand and decoupage glue and then they put sea shells in it.  Left to dry it looks like she went sea shell hunting at the beach, very cool looking in person.  They also made the tshirt and made a fish pole with fishes on it but her brother and sister got ahold of them before I could take pictures 😦  I will post her tshirt here tomorrow as well.

Day 2:  Here is a shark visor and a whale that is made out of a terra cotta planter:  They also drew a under sea picture.  I will scan it tomorrow and add it as well.  Hannah loves to draw.

Here is a lobster visor, a lobster cork board (unfortunately my husband says it looks like Mr. Crab from a cartoon that will remain un-named), this will be where the sea horse riding stick goes.

1930's Housewife

DH told me to retake the test with the real answers:  I will do that later but when I answered how an actual 1930’s housewife would answer:  You can see my results in my side bar.  Truthfully, I answered as to how I want and strive to be, yes I like the ideal of a 1930’s housewife.  I just wish I knew women who used to be so they could pass on their wisdom to me in the spirit of Titus 2.  You can take the test to by scrolling on the bottom of the box and highlighting and clicking on the link 🙂

More cards for swaps

I have been busy today and yesterday making cards for 3 swaps, I still have one to do and hope to get to that today.  I couldn’t pass up the 50 cent stamps for the Sweet Treats Swap at Cratfs 2000, sorry to my friend Amy , who was going to let me borrow some of her sweet themed stamps but I couldn’t pass up that deal and I will re-use them for bdays 🙂 at least the ice cream cone.

Okay, here is the one for my feminine card swap at SCS:  I used a Jessica Lynn stamp, heat embossing and various papers.

Here are the cards for the 2 spots I signed up for in the 3 X 3 Sweet Treats Swap over at SCS.  I used the SU set So Many Scallops, the SU scallop and designed label punch, SU crystal effects, SU glitter, SU wild wasabi ink on one and various papers and the 50 cent stamps.  These are not due until September.

Here is the hot chocolate one with crystal effects and glitter.

 God bless

Can you be Christian without God?

Apparently according to a poll taken by the Pew Research Center that is true.  Keeping in mind they only polled 35,000 people a minority compared to the actual population, so is it really a true view of how Christians and other religions view their God?  No, if they wanted a true view and not just a random sampling they would make the poll open to everyone and not just a few select, 35,000 people.  So anyway my question stands……

Can you be a Christian if you deny Christ is the only way to Heaven, there is no God, and that there are more than one way to get to God?

My conclusion is no, you cannot be a Christian by denying the existance of the God that you claim to pray to, worship and love.  I am not talking about any other religions just the Christian.  Wether for the sake of the argument you are like me and consider yourself a New Testament Christian, or consider yourself in another segment of Christianity.  I am not going to split hairs on this right now – there is to much to go into by delving into each break offs beliefs.  So if you say you are Christian despite your denomination then you can answer the question 🙂   The poll suggests that only a NET sum of Protestants (the PEW center breaks it down by denomination) is 98 percent that believes in God now breaking that down further is this:  72% believe in a personal God, 19% believe in an impersonal force (not God but a force) and 7% don’t know!  Now this is just the Protestant percents, they list Roman Catholics, Jehovah’s Witness, Mormon, and other non-Christian groups like Buddists as well – please visit the website for the rest of the numbers.  So anyway, first of all why don’t 7% know, don’t they read the Bible?

An overwhelming 66% of Protestants say that many religions can lead to everlasting life.  There are so many Scriptures that attest that Christ is the only Way to everlasting life that I will list where they can be found:  John 3:16, John 3:36, John 4:14, John 5:24, John 6:27, John 6:40, John 6:47, John 12:50, Romans 6:22, Galations 6:8, I Timothy 1:16 and of course the Old Testament prophecies that came true when Christ came to earth as a lowly man.   Show me the Scripture that says many religions can lead to everlasting life?  There is no Scripture, this is based solely on a book written by men in some religions that say they too will have everelasting life, the Book that is written by God the Father is the one I believe and put my trust in to be the Truth. Luke 9:27 I admit it I am Sola Scriptura.  Another 64% believe there is more than one way to intrepret the teachings/beliefs of Christianity!  See 2 Timothy below.  The last time I looked there was only one Bible, if you are reading a translation and not a paraphrase (like The Message) then for the most part it says the same thing.  I also admit I use the KJV.  Sometimes I will pull out my NKJV when I need to clarify or when I read something to the children so they better understand, but for the other 99% (since we are talking percentages) I am KJV.  How can we proceed to back up our Faith when it seems as if so many of our brothers and sisters have no idea what the Bible says and what God puts forth in His Word?  No wonder non-Christians look at us with disdain, we are not cohesive.  Didn’t God warn about confusion if His church was split?  Now I know that the survey looks at all religions and even non-religions.  I don’t even consider myself a Protestant.  I consider myself a Christian, what the disciples were first called. See Acts 26:28 and I Peter 4:16  For the record, I believe the Word of God to be the infallible Word nothing should be added or deleted for fear of punishment by having my name removed from the Book of Life, I believe there is a God and He created the world and the Bible is God breathed but transcribed by men He deemed worthy.  "All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."  2 Timothy 3:16, 17    The Bible is all we need to know how to love and serve God.

Why is it so difficult for us to believe in God?  Is because as a society we have become godless?  We have undermined His authority – letting homosexuals ‘marry’, taking away the roles of men and women, killing unborn children, taking away parental rights to teach and raise their own children, among other  tthings.  We are becoming like Sodom and Gomorrah, we are denying God and worshipping idols like our ancestors the Israelites.  Except our idols are cars, money, prestige, big houses, name brand labels.  It will only be a time decided on by God before things will come to a close.  I welcome Christ’s return when He raptures His Bride.  I have heard a Pastor claim that we should not pray for the Lord to return because there are so many unbelievers, that is true but we also need to welcome Christ so He can save His Bride.  I would much prefer to be a ‘poor’ missionary in the jungles than to be ‘rich’ in my little house.  Would it be easy to give up my worldly goods to serve Him?  No, but that is my flesh.  When I know that Christ will one day say to me "Well done, good and faithful servant."  Matthew 25:21 That is all the reward I will need.  I am not ashamed to say it, I am in love with the Lord!  When I think about meeting Him one day I tear up and just want to shout for joy and worship Him!

When I think of people who say they are Christians but then deny there is a God, deny that being a Christian is the ONLY way to Heaven, I am saddened.  I fear for their souls.  God wants us with Him, in Heaven but that can’t be done if we deny Him and continue to deny Him His rightful place in the center of our lives!  I am saddened that there are brothers and sisters who have been so mis-led by society and even churches,  that they are lost, we need to turn back to the Source of Truth and Light and Life and give Him our life as He once gave His.

Farmer's Market

I love our Farmer’s Market.  We have gone twice and while small it’s so nice.  I encourage those who live close enough to drive where I am, my friends know where, come and see what I mean.  There is fresh produce, fruits, starts of plants, flowers and handcrafted goods!  The first time I went there wasn’t much but I did find a lavendar plant, morning glory, a non fruit strawberry plant, a tomato plant with tomatoes on it all for $1.50!!!!!  I got Don to go this past Saturday.  By the way it’s every Saturday by the Marketplace and opens at 9a.m.  There were more vendors.  A ladies aid society selling quilted and sewn goods.  A man who makes and carves his own wood boxes, display cases, cups and bowls!!!  And they are too cheap if you ask me LOL.  We bought some nice smelling soap.  Now on to the really awesome find…….Garlic Scrape Pesto!!!!!  There are these things called scrapes that grow on garlic only in the spring and this family makes a pesto out of it – Wonderful!!!!  Here is what scrapes look like:

We have tried store bought pesto and it was terrible.  The smell alone is wonderful.  So we bought a small 5 oz jar of it for $3.50 and tried it the next day.  I made grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner.  Don’s and I were made like this:  bread, some pesto, tomato, cheese and bread.  The scent alone was great but the taste YUMMY!!!!!  I could have ate four more, but I didn’t.  So anyway I emailed the lady and asked her to hold us two or their large jars back and we will pick them up at this Saturday’s farmers market.  We will be freezing one.  A little goes a long way but since it’s a seasonal item we want to have some on hand.  I also made Ranch Chicken last night and we serve that over pasta and Don and I added some of the pesto to ours (the children don’t like the garlic taste, yet) and again YUMMY!!!!  I am excited to pick up some more.  The lady also makes some beautiful natural soaps and I am putting both links below so you can check them out.  They ship 🙂  Both links work although they are different colors 🙂

Nature’s Wisdom Garlic

Sirius Soaps   I bought the goats milk with the mother/child imprint.  It is almost to pretty to use.

So go on over and check them out.

Seperation

I just read an interesting on Yahoo:  Gay marriage: a new bind for church groups  Scary stuff.  We all know that California has temporarily suspended the ban on homeschooling thanks to the HSLDA but now they have legalized gay marriages.  Coincedence?  Most homeschoolers are Christian and I think California is truly threatened by that, can’t have more crazy Christian kids running around, they hate gays.  Or so I think the thinking goes.  Anyway, so now that homosexuals can be married in California, homosexuals can sue churches or Christian organizations that won’t allow them to wed or be artifically inseminated!  I thought everyone was crying for seperation of church and state, look at the state of our public schools since God was removed!  So we can’t have the 10 Commandments (thankfully my city sees no problem with it and our 10 Commandments still stand outside our court house Praise the Lord) on public ground, Catholic charities are forced by the courts to provide birth control, Christian adoption agencies are either forced to go private or allow homosexuals to adopt children.  What about seperation?  Why are the courts deciding what churches can do? This really upsets me.  Churches aren’t allowed to come into the government but the government can by all means come into the churches!  How ridiculous.  We are turning into another Sodom and Gomorah.  Such a sad state of things when Christians are considered the abominations but the acts that are abominations are glorified.  I want to make it perfectly clear I DO NOT hate persons who claim to be homosexuals – do I hate sin?  Yes.  Sin is sin, no matter if it’s me telling a lie or someone claiming to be homosexual, it’s a sin but we glorify it just like we glorify lying to get to the top, we glorify pride and vanity in the millions of dollars spent for plastic surgery, etc.  Why can’t we go back to the way the founding fathers governed the United States?  Why can’t we rely on the Bible to govern our life, government, churches and schools?  Remember what happened to lands that disobeyed God and wouldn’t turn from their sinful ways, some of those lands also allowed homosexual behaviors.  So if the church has to stay out of the government then the government needs to stay out of the churches and let the churches be run by God and the Bible, not by the sinful laws of man.  The Christian is called to uphold the laws of the land only until the time the laws of the land disobey God’s Law.  We need to stop touting sin as something good and trying to condemn those who uphold God’s Law as evil!  The we’s, us, etc used are generalizations – not aimed at any particular group or person.  I know I may upset some with my post but I ask that you prayerfully consider what I have written and by all means check by The Word, which is given for reproof and instruction.  The Bible is NOT an outdated book.
