Another COSI trip

on June 26, 2010

My children really enjoy COSI (Center of Science and Innovation) there is so much to do that it can’t all be done in one day.  We’ve been going about once a month and still haven’t seen all there is to see.  We also enjoy taking a friend or two and our trip this past Thursday was no different.  We have an enjoyable time especially is you can overlook and ignore some children who seem to have no manners.  Anyway, here are some pictures and even a video (no sound) from our recent visit.

This is in the area called Progress and during the yeat 1898 (I think that’s the right year, I may be wrong – it may be earlier) these are my three and their friend in a buggy.  Like gentlemen, the guys allowed the girls to have the seat 😀

In the area called “Gadgets” there is a bunch of hands-on activities that allow children to experiment with gears, lasers, building materials, and other things.  Christian enjoyed figuring out how to put the gears together and both Christian and Bethanne enjoyed having me pull them on chairs connected to different amounts of pulleys to see what was easier to use.  Hannah was my picture taker in these.

These are still in Gadgets but it’s Hannah experimenting with arranging tubing and seeing how to connect them to make a ball continually drop through them and Bethanne experimenting with getting a ball to ride on a stream of air.

The video I took that Hannah volunteered for in one of the live shows called The Science of Fireworks.

Is this the COSI in Columbus? If it is, do they still have the different towns set up? I grew up in Columbus and went to COSI every year on a field trip. I absolutely loved going there, it was one of my favorite places!!!

I live outside of Tampa now and there is a MOSI , which they pronounce “mosey”. I cracked up when I heard that!

      Hi Vicki,
Yes this is the one in Columbus. They re-did COSI a few years back however while they still have Progress they no long have the movie theatre, horse stable with the blacksmith shop, etc. My children enjoy it but I know what it was like before and I miss the old one. They also no longer have the plastic figures of the Presidents. It’s still a neat place to go though.
      Thanks for commenting!
