The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week:

Nothing, well not really but I don’t feel like I’ve accomplished much either on the diet side of things or the exercising.  I think this is my time of year where I start to feel a little blah and we can’t go outside because of lots and lots of rain so we’re pretty much cooped up.

In our homeschool this week:

We’re still pretty much on track except for a couple things that we need to go back and re-explore for Botany just because I didn’t feel like making the clay for the flower and we also need to start growing something, anything in our light hut.

What’s working/not working for us:

I’m awaiting a new phonics program that I hope will make things easier for my 5 year old son who really wants to learn to read but had issues with another reading/phonics program.  Otherwise everything else is working great and I’m phasing in Five In A Row for my son as well.

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…

Don’t listen.  Yep, ignore people.  I know some people mean well and just don’t know how to say things nicely but when it comes to my educating my children I tend to ignore those who want to critique and bemoan things that I or my children are doing wrong.  We homeschool.  Get over it!  Okay, vent over!

I’m reading:

Put Your Heart in Your Mouth by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride MD

How Do We Know the Bible Is True? by Ken Ham and Bodie Hodge

Raising a Daughter After God’s Own Heart by Elizabeth George

Weddings and Wasabi by Camy Tang

I’m praying for:

My children and my husband.

My family (mom, brother’s, dad, aunts, uncles, inlaws): that they will both come to know and have a personal relationship with the Lord.

For myself that in the near future I will find a family friendly ministry where my children and I can be the hands and feet of Christ.

Also for all of us to get into a family centered, Bible only church soon!

A video to share:

Click on the link below to watch my son in his karate learning how to spar.  It’s quite amusing – he is the littlest in the back with blonde hair.
