Kregel Tour: My Pop-Up Bible Stories retold by Juliet David

on August 13, 2012

About the Book:

With a pop-up scene on every page, children will cherish this selection of favorite stories from the Old and New Testaments. From the moment Baby Moses is found floating in a basket among the bulrushes to Jesus’ stilling of the storm, children will be captivated by Daniel Howarth’s remarkable illustrations as each story pops off the page.

My Opinion:

If you’re looking for a delightful book to introduce Bible stories to your toddler or young child then the My Pop-Up Bible Stories may be just what you want to go out and buy!  My children are mostly too old for this book, but even adults enjoy the value of a good pop-up book and one that instills a love of God’s Word is even more of a valued item.  These pop-ups will appeal to children as the colors are vibrant and the people look like them, not cartoon-ish but also not overly adult like either.  Like all pop-up books care will need to be taken so as the child won’t grab and tear the pages and ruin the pop-up effect.

If your child is a little older the Scripture reference is given at the end of each brief re-telling – and by brief the whole book can be read in less than 5 minutes.  This allows the parent to read the actual historical event in the Bible of their choice and reiterating what the story was talking about.  This would also make a great gift for a grandchild or a welcome baby present that will become a treasured part of nap time or just when baby and parent need a bit of relaxation time to cuddle.

**I was given a copy of this book from Kregel Publications in exchange for my honest review, no other compensation was given.
