on November 7, 2012

About the Book:

Book One in the Seven Brides for Seven Bachelors series
Every year, 30-40 young Amish men descend on the cozy little town of West Kootenai, Montana, arriving in the spring to live there for six months and receive ‘resident’ status for the hunting season in the fall. They arrive as bachelors, but go home with brides! Sarah Shelter has lived in West Kootenai for the last ten years and wonders if she will ever fall in love.andnbsp;Since the tragic death of her best friend, she carries her memories in a jar along with the small items connected to them. For just as long, she’s also been carrying around her emotions instead of allowing them to penetrate deep into her heart. Now she’s met a kind and gentle man who may be able to break down the wall. But can Sarah risk her heart to finally achieve her dreams?

My Opinion:
I love, love, love Tricia’s writing and this book, The Memory Jar, I loved visiting in the little town of West Kootenai and ‘visiting’ some of my old friends from other Tricia novels.  That is where the similarities end though – this is a whole brand new series and meeting Sarah (maybe I’m partial to the name) and her raw heartache from loss pulls you in especially as you see her responding to life beyond the loss and realizing that God doesn’t want us to live in our past.
As Sarah meets some of the bachelors that come out to her Amish community she gets to know Jathan and when he is called back home suddenly things don’t see to be going the way Sarah or Jathan wants.  It’s a story filled with Faith, loss, love and ultimately redemption both in Christ and through others and this book will have you looking forward to the second.
