I wasn’t sure what to write about for R but as of yesterday I knew! Re-check!!! Why re-check? Well if you’ve been reading my blog you’ll know about my daughter’s scoliosis, if you don’t and want to catch up see the page on the right side bar.
Yesterday was her over due 3 month post surgical re-check (the doctor has been very sick) so when we arrived we were told that the office had been calling up to tell us we needed to reschedule, I very kindly told her the only call I got was the one to remind me of the appointment and they still need to see us. So the partner of my daughter’s doctor kindly agreed to see us, we drove in snow and ice to get to the appointment, of course we waited an hour to be seen.
Once in the room they take Hannah to get her x-rays done out of her brace, she has been in her post surgical brace since November 6th all day except for when she freshens up. So almost 24 hours a day she’s worn this brace for over 3 months! She’s been a trooper. As of yesterday she has been cleared. The doctor said her x-rays looked great and that she no longer needs to wear the brace. He said she can wean off it if she prefers – but she can go without, initially we were told 4 to 6 months, she can even go back to full dancing, she was a bit limited when she went back in January.
The plan is to have her bring her brace to dance in case her back starts hurting without the support and she is to take occasional rests as needed and she has decided to keep wearing it at night for the time being. We go back in two months to hopefully see her regular doctor (please pray that he gets well soon, it seems it’s quite serious). In the mean time we are very happy and excited about this next step in her healing and recovery.
